April 2026 PAD: Days 12-17

By Alissa Dedic

It is Day 17 of the April 2026 Poem A Day Challenge. I have several poems from this week to share with you.

The last two weeks have been pretty rough with sickness in my house. The old me would have taken that as a sign that I need to quit doing the Poem A Day Challenge this time around.

The new me has learned a new phrase “even if.” Even if I am sick, I can still participate in the Poem A Day Challenge. Here’s a more difficult one: “Even if I got a phone call with bad news, I can still do what I planned to do today.”

I have some more to write about even if. Be sure to subscribe to my blog, so you don’t miss any poems from the rest of April 2026 PAD Challenge or don’t miss my upcoming blog post on even if.

I will share the original poetry writing prompt and then I will share the poem I wrote. I turned each one into a graphic. I will keep this short and only post on blog article with the backlog of poems for the week. This will be the best way to honor by time and yours.

Day 12

The Day 12 poetry prompt was to write a poem about the word set. Here’s the link to the original poetry prompt:

Day 14

Day 14 of the April 2026 PAD fell on a Tuesday. Tuesdays are traditional two poetry writing prompt days. Unlike in the past, I choose to include both prompts in one poem. the poetry writing prompt was form, as in poetic form for my poem. I chose to write a variant sonnet.
