I have my poems from Days 8, 9 and 10 of the April 2026 Poem A Day Challenge to share. The poems from this week will need revision because I was sick. The point is that I wrote instead of giving up because I faced an obstacle.
I am going to give each back logged poem it’s own heading. I will provide the links to the original prompts and instructions for each day. After that I will post my poem for that day. I will keep it short.
April 2026 PAD: Day 8
The poetry writing prompt for Day 8 was to write a poem about paranoia. Robert Lee Brewer, one of the editors at Writers Digest, is the person putting together these prompts and instructions. He wrote a triolet. This is an poem made up of eight lines. The first and second lines repeat through the poem. The third and fifth lines rhyme with the first line. The sixth line rhymes with the second.

April 2026 PAD: Day 9
The poetry writing prompt for Day 9 was to write a fill in the blank poem. The blanks provided were “(blank) but (blank).” This becomes the title of the poem. Robert Lee Brewer wrote a triolet again. I chose to do the same.

I’ve been through some life transitions in the last couple of years. I chose to write about the end but the beginning.

April 2026 PAD: Day 10
The poetry writing prompt for Day 10 was to write a mini poem. I chose to write a tricube because they are mini. A tricube is three stanzas, made up of three lines with three syllables each. Every word has to carry its own weight and add to the poetic theme.
I’m learning that changes, healing and growth happen in the little things. Faithfulness is found in how we handle the little things. I am learning to restart now when I get off track instead of waiting for Monday or some day when I feel ready.

April 2026 PAD: Day 11
The prompt for Day 11, which is today, is to write a poem about home. Here’s the link to the original poetry writing prompt and instructions:
