Here’s my poem from Day 7 of the April 2026 Poem A Day Challenge. I am fighting the flu but still writing a poem a day for this challenge. It might take me a few days to get the back log posted.
The prompt for Day 7 was to write a poem about dusk and dawn. Day 7 was a Tuesday. In these challenges, Tuesdays normally have two poetry prompts. It is up to the poet to decide to write a poem for each prompt or to feature both prompts in a single poem. I choose to feature both prompts in a single poem.

“Dawn and Dusk”
by Alissa Dedic, 2026
Tomorrow begins at dawn
the golden sun rises
chasing the inky dark away
the mourning dove cooes
greeting the sun, the faithful light after each night.
Night begins at dusk
the white moon rises
putting the sun to bed
to dream of tomorrow
hope sways on the breeze.
Dawn smells like mercy
Dusk smells like hope.
