Day 6 April 2026 PAD

I am behind posting my poems for the April 2026 Poem A Day Challenge. I fighting the flu over here. I am feeling better this evening, so I thought I would post the Day 6 poem. For those of you following me through this challenge, I will have the back log of poems posted by the end of week. It will look like Day 7 and 8 posted tomorrow, and Day 9 and 10 posted on April 10. I will post my final poem from the November 2025 PAD Challenge next week.

The prompt for Day 6 was to write a poem about water. Here’s the link to the original prompt and instructions:

I incorporated some of the words from last week’s poetry prompts into this poem. I had already started to play with the idea of a poem that featured all the words.

“Water”

By Alissa Dedic, 2026

The tears from my eyes

water the seeds of faith

I had planted after

I was splayed open

to cut away the fear like chains

tying me down

to faded images

the past haunted me

until the rain water

washed away the murky mud

doubt and denial spread on me

the gray rain clouds gather

I can smell the rain on the air

coming to rinse the fear away

and water the seeds of faith I planted
