I have been into free verse sonnets lately. That is what I ended up writing. I do feel like writing some form poetry this month. I used to not like forms, but sometimes they make writing easier.
It’s Good Friday. I’ve had Easter and resurrection on my mind. My poem is about Jesus’s gracious, free gift of salvation from sin.
“Open Call” by Alissa Dedic
Open my ears to hear the savior’s call;
open my eyes to lift my gaze to see;
the open arms extended expectantly,
like an open house party,
room for me, room for you.
Graces reaches out open hands;
an open call, come one, come all;
it is finished;
there’s an open door to an empty tomb,
opening the road that was shut.
Open the gift of Jesus’s free invitation
to return home to Eden.
