November 2025 PAD Challenge Day 21

By Alissa Dedic

It’s Wednesday again. I’m trying out Wednesday as the day I focus more on my writing and not so much on editing and marketing. I am continuing on where I left with the poem a day challenge back in November of 2025. I will keep posting my poems from the challenge until they are all posted. As I said last week, this will most likely lead me up the April PAD Challenge.

The prompt for this day was to write a “why (blank)” poem. Here’s the link to the original writing prompt: https://www.writersdigest.com/2025-november-pad-chapbook-challenge-day-21

I started working on some rebranding for my editing business during this time. I wanted incorporate my writing too. I chose “why I write.”

“Why I Write”

By Alissa Dedic

As my pen glides across the paper

my thoughts and ideas pour out

a piece of wisdom or truth

or an opportunity to say me too

for a sense of community

to prevent isolation

to help someone else put it into words

the thoughts racing in their heads

that’s why I write.
