Today’s prompt is to write a hermit crab poem. It can be a grocery list, a to-do list, a collection of quotes, a letter. There are other forms of writing that can be considered poetry. That is poetic form for the prompt. I chose a list article.

- “Be careful; it’s a jungle out there!” -Mr. Mason, 7th grade social studies teacher Hey, thirteen-year-old self, don’t laugh at that; it’s for real. And yes, he knows he said it yesterday and all the days before.
- “I can’t means I won’t.” -Mom This means say what you mean.
- “That’s not fair means I didn’t get my way.” -Mom This also means say what you mean. If it’s important, it needs to be repeated, like the thing about the jungle. It’s the important things that we easily forget.
- “You can’t run from your problems. They’ll come with you.” -Mom Your problems will haunt you until you face them and solve them.
- “The first shall be last and the last shall be first.” -Jesus Not about taking turns as I thought.
- “You can be or do whatever you put your mind to.” -Dad For good or bad, dreams or attitudes, you have a choice about you are and what you do.
- “Don’t wear your feelings on your sleeves.” -Dad Guard yourself; not don’t have have feelings.
- Three books I saw every Saturday while dusting. If I had dared to open them… God Uses Cracked Pots and
- Normal is Just a Setting on Your Dryer by Patsy Clairmont, two books on Mom’s dresser, and
- Don’t Let the Jerks Get the Best of You by Paul Meier, M.D. on the end table by Dad’s chair.

- “It isn’t always about being fast or accurate that counts. It’s being willing. “-John Wayne in The Shootist Trying and failing is more important than perfection.
- “Watch out, sister! Everything in these woods’ll either bite ya, stab ya or stick ya!” -John Wayne in Rooster Cogburn Oh, it’s an actual jungle out there!
