It was a busy weekend with my birthday, Easter and writing poems. Throw in a little flu bug. I got behind on posting my poems.
The Day 5 prompt was to write a poem about safety. Here’s the link to the original poetry prompt and instructions:

I was thinking about how we help kids with shots and bad tasting medicine by telling them to imagine their happy place or safe place. I imagine a lot of things to help me through various unpleasant life experiences.
“Safety Place”
By Alissa Dedic, 2026
I close my eyes
to see a meadow
wildflowers swaying in the breeze
under the canopy shade from a forest of trees
then the shots don’t hurt so bad
and the medicine taste so bitter
